Vulcan Model Export

An explanation of fields and properties

Vulcan Model Export

To access this dialog:

  • With block model data loaded, select the [Vulcan] Driver category and [Block Model (BMF Files)] from the Data Type list of the Data Export dialog.

This dialog is used, as part of the data export process, to create an output file in Vulcan Model format based on selected object data. When an object has been selected (Object to Export dialog), a Vulcan data source driver and appropriate data type have been chosen (Data Export dialog), this dialog is shown.

There are two tabs; Schema and Fields. Schema determines schematic information required by the resulting file, and Fields allows you to append current object field information, and determine a special value to denote missing data.

Schema Tab Details:

The last sub-schema will be used to create the records unless the sub-cell aligns perfectly with the Parent or another sub-schema. The table shows schema information relating to the selected object. To add a sub-schema, click Add.

You can specify how data is to be divided into blocks using the Splits in spin buttons for each of the X, Y and/or Z axes. When a new value is specified, the resulting Min Size and No. of blocks fields updates accordingly. Note that you cannot perform this manipulation at parent level.

FieldsTab Details:

The Fields tab displays a list of all current data fields for the selected object. You can elect to include or exclude these properties from the resulting Vulcan model file by selecting or clearing the appropriate check boxes.

When a field is selected from the list, the following fields are updated:

Name: the name of the property is shown in this field. Note that you can edit this field. The new name will be exported to the external file.

Type: the type of data is shown here. You can change the data type of any of the selected fields using the drop-down list to select from [Double], [Float], [Integer], [Short], [Byte] or [Name] types.

Absent: the current 'absent data' code for the selected field is shown here. The default value is '-99' for all fields, however, you can assign a unique value to each column if required.

Description: attach a description to each field as required.
